Brazilian Airline GOL Is Expanding Caribbean Service to This Island

It’s one of the most sought-after tourism source markets in the Caribbean — Brazil.

And now one of Brazil’s major airlines is expanding its service in the Caribbean.

Tobago’s Division of Tourism announced that Brazilian carrier GOL would be expanding its weekly Sunday service to Barbados with a stop in Tobago.

The flight flight from Sao Paulo will first stopover in Barbados before touching down in Tobago.

The decision comes after two years of negotiations between Tobago and GOL.

The flights out of Sao Paulo will begin Jan. 31, according to the government.

“This is a significant move because it opens up the South American market and Brazil in particular,” said Tobago Secretary of Tourism and Transportation Tracy Davidson-Celestine. “This is a significant move because it opens up the South American market and Brazil in particular. With strong connections in Argentina, Chile and other South American markets it makes it easier for the growing South American middle class to access Tobago.”
