The Mahekal Beach Resort in Playa del Carmen has reopened following a $10 million “re-imagination” project.

The 122-room hotel is made up of a collection of thatched-roof bungalows just off an 800-foot stretch of beach.

“We are proud to bring our vision to life and introduce Mahekal Beach Resort to travelers worldwide,” said Lamont Meek, chief operating officer of Circa Capital, which co-owns and manages the resort. “It is our priority to deliver magical moments to guests by offering authentic experiences, warm and dedicated staff, exceptional amenities and a relaxed ambiance leaving visitors stress-free and transformed.”

The resort says its interior design was inspired by the book “GypSet Style” by Julia Chaplin, featuring “bohemian gypsy infused with Mexican, colorful accents.”

The renovation project included two brand-new swimming pools, a new seaside jacuzzi, two renovated restaurants and three new bars.
