American Airlines’ Latin America, Caribbean Traffic Declined Last Month

It was a rough month for American Airlines in December in the Latin America and Caribbean region, with revenue passenger miles dropping by 6.2 percent year over year.
The load factor for the Latin America-Caribbean region stood at 77.2 percent in December, down 3.6 percent from the previous year and down 3.1 percent for the year.
All told in 2014, revenue passenger miles to Latin America and the Caribbean were down by 0.3 percent compared to the year 2013.
The carrier’s revenue passenger miles to the region have been steadily declining for several months.
With respect to all international traffic, the carrier saw a 3.4 percent drop in December compared to December 2013.
