Regional airline LIAT will be reducing its fuel surcharge on tickets, the company announced.
Beginning Jan. 15, the fuel surcharge will be reduced by 50 percent for all new bookings, CEO David Evans announced in a statement.
The carrier first announced the fuel surcharge in 2003, in the wake of increasing fuel prices.
In 2009, LIAT removed the fee, eventually re-instituting it in 2011.
The move comes as the price of jet fuel and crude oil have been falling.
In a statement, Evans said “being fully aware of the impact rising fuel prices have had on customers, it is only fitting that they benefit from the decreased prices.”
The company did not say by how much the move would reduce ticket fares.
