The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and Spain are looking to deepen its relationship.

The two sides recently signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at further building on their relationship, in a ceremony in St Lucia.

OECS Director General Didacus Jules said the international practices to which both sides subscribe would be a “vital enabler of growth and development in a global economic environment.”

Spain’s Jose Maria Fernandez Lopez De Turiso said the OECS had already realized a number of benefits from its relationship with Spain, including the training of OECS Commission Staff in the Spanish language and the promotion of a diplomatic school for the Caribbean.
