Sandals is expanding its footprint in Grenada.

The company announced Thursday the “imminent” establishment of a new sales and marketing centre for Sandals Resorts International and a new conference centre on the island.

The investment in both projects will total more than $1.6 million in Grenada, along with an estimated creation of more than 100 new jobs, according to the company.

Operations at the marketing office are expected to begin by April 2015, Sandals said in a statement.

The announcement came about a year after Sandals first opened its new Grenada resort.

Sandals has existing sales and marketing centres in Jamaica and St Lucia; Sandals Resorts International Chairman Gordon “Butch” Stewart said Grenada’s “people — their education and attitude, [bring] a distinct advantage to the organization.”
