The Sandals Carlyle in Jamaica will remain a Sandals-branded resort, the company announced Monday.

Sandals Resorts International had earlier announced that the property would be transitioned to one of its other brands, Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts.

But that changed following a consultation by SRI Chairman Gordon “Butch” Stewart with guests, the company said.

“Sandals Carlyle is without doubt one of our best loved hotels both within our company and among our guests,” Stewart said. “Over the years, it has gained a hugely passionate fan base that loves its simple tradition of warm Caribbean hospitality and intimate personal service. Rebranding Sandals Carlyle was a decision we had to make jointly with those guests. We had been discussing the rebrand for a long time and the rationale was sound but ultimately they spoke and we listened.”

The property is located on the “Hip Strip” in Montego Bay.

“I am proud that we are the kind of organization that can act upon our guests’ wishes when they make them and this is one such instance,” Stewart said. “Sandals Carlyle has a unique character which guests love and their feedback has reinforced that.”

The 52-room property will now be undergoing a series of enhancements.
