Is St Lucia closer to having a new north-south route on the island?

The government is launching a feasibility study to determine the possibility of constructing a new route to link the north and south of the island, it announced this week.

It’s not the first time the idea has been broached, however.

The north-south link road was first examined in a study in 2001, but the new study will have to examine a range of factors, from climate resilience considerations to updated traffic numbers.

The study is being funded by a grant from the Caribbean Development Bank and the government of St Lucia.
