St Kitts and Nevis is planning to build two more solar farms, according to Cartwright Farrell, CEO of the St Kitts Electricity Corporation.

The two would follow the country’s existing solar farm, which is located at Robert L Bradshaw International Airport and produces 750 kilowatts of energy.

The next farm will produce 500 kilowatts, as part of a partnership with the government of Taiwan, with a third solar farm planned that would produce 1 megawatt of energy.

“In the development plans of most of the significant developments on St. Kitts the use of Renewable Energy is stressed,” he said. “All of these developments have committed to include some level of renewable energy input into their energy needs.”
