Guyana’s first-ever Marriott hotel is delayed.

The hotel, which had been planning a December 2014 opening, has pushed back its opening date to February 2015, according to the property’s Web site.

The Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown, which will be located in the country’s capital, will include views of the Demerara River and the Atlantic Ocean.

Upon completion, it would be the first major branded hotel in the South American country.

The $51 million project broke ground in November 2011.
