Outgoing United States Attorney General Eric Holder will be visiting Barbados this week, the country’s government announced.

Holder is a son of Barbados; his father was born on the island and his mother’s grandparents were immigrants from the country.

Holder’s visit will include a meeting with Barbados Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite, Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave.

He will also be meeting with both Houses of Parliament.

Holder has served as Attorney General in 2009; he announced his resignation in September.

That will take effect once his successor is confirmed; earlier this month, US President Barack Obama nominated US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Loretta Lynch for the post.

Holder has visited the region before, most notably a brief stop at the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting in Port-au-Prince, Haiti last year.
