WE DROVE right by the bar.

“Wait a minute,” the driver told me, backing up the car.

Yes, this was a place worth stopping.

We got out on the side of the hill and proceeded into this colourful bar, perched on a hillside high above the famous Cane Garden Bay.

Open just over a year, it’s called Stoutt’s Lookout, owned by Prince Stoutt and home to a signature “Lookout Punch.”

The punch is made with Tortola’s own Arundel Rum, made at the centuries-old Callwood Rum Distillery, with bottles of the stuff all around the bar.

It’s a sweet punch with just enough spice, featuring Arundel rum, fruit juice, amaretto and freshly-ground nutmeg.

That punch, along with what just might be the best view in Tortola, is definitely worth stopping for.
