The islands of St Kitts and St Eustatius have reached an agreement on their maritime boundary, according to a statement from the government of St Kitts and Nevis.
The two sides recently met to negotiate their maritime boundary under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

According to McClean Hobson, St Kitts’ director of Maritime Affairs, the process was facilitated through diplomatic exchanges between the parties over the last four years.
“Increased and increasing globalization, intense global competition for resources across borders, and the responsibility of all governments to protect the interest of their respective nations while forging strong working relations with neighbours, make today’s negotiations important indeed,” said St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas in a statement.
The government said that talks with the French government on the maritime boundary with St Barth were continuing.
