Tourism agencies from across Latin America and the Caribbean are slated to meet on Monday in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The agencies are gathering under the theme of “Sustainable Tourism: Building Bridges for Co-operation and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean “Promoting Community based Tourism for Diversification and Competitiveness,” hosted by the Association of Caribbean States.

The aim is to enhance “intra-regional dialogue and cooperation,” according to the ACS.

“To this end, discussions will focus on identifying areas for collaboration and developing strategies geared towards the diversification of the regional tourism industry,” the ACS said.

A major goal of the conference, according to the ACS, is to obtain support from the regional agencies for the establishment of a regional network of community-based tourism initiatives in the greater Caribbean.
