Dominica to Hold Elections Dec. 8

Voters in Dominica will go to the polls to choose their next government on Dec. 8, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced on Wednesday.

Nomination DAy will be Nov. 19 ahead of the vote, in which the country will chose its next MPs and leader.

Skerrit has served as Dominica’s Prime Minister since January 2004, succeeding then-Prime Minister Charles Savarin after the latter’s untimely death.

Skerrit has led the Dominia Labour Party to two general election wins, in both 2005 and 2009.

The current leader of Dominica’s opposition party, the United Workers’ Party, is Hector John.
