St Vincent and the Grenadines’s new airport is getting closer to its debut.

Dr Rudy Matthias, chief executive officer of the country’s International Airport Development Company, said “steady progress” was being made at the country’s planned Argyle airport site.

According to Matthias, the project is working towards” substantial completion” by the end of this year.

When completed, Argyle would be the country’s first true international airport.

While the country’s existing ET Joshua airport can receive flights from other countries, it cannot receive large-passenger jets from places like the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The airport was originally slated for full completion by the end of this year, a goal that was delayed by a host of factors, including the Christmas trough storm last year.
