Caribbean air carrier LIAT is delaying the launch of its planned new services to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the company announced.

The delay is accompanied by a temporary suspension of flights between Antigua and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

“Unfortunately aircraft restrictions mean we are having to defer the launch of services to Haiti and temporarily suspend our route between Antigua and Santo Domingo,” said Desmond Brown, LIAT’s Head of Corporate Communications. “We apologize to customers whose travel plans are affected by this suspension. They are asked to contact our Call Centre staff who will assist them in making alternative arrangements.”

The new Haiti service was first announced in September.

It had been set to launch on Dec. 5, with flights every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday out of Santo Domingo.
