Grenada’s government says the country needs “at least 3,000 hotel rooms,” Governor General Dr Cecile La Grenada said in her Throne Speech last week.
Seeking to make Grenada “a world-class tourism destination,” La Grenade said her government would “continue to offer incentives to investors (local and foreign) who are interested in hotel and resort development, especially at five-star or higher quality.”
“This critical mass of rooms is needed to strengthen Grenada’s ability to negotiate airlift,” she said. “To that end, my Government is heartened by the two new hotels which are currently being designed. Work will commence on at least one of those by the end of November, as Government continues to actively pursue more hotel investments.”
On the airlift front, Grenada recently got a boost from American Airlines, which will begin offering daily flights from Miami in December, and on the wider tourism front when the Sandals LaSource Grenada resort officially earlier this year.
