St Lucia Festival to Celebrate Derek Walcott

St Lucia’s Folk Research Centre has partnered with the Alliance Francaise to present its annual Music, Storytelling and Poetry Fiesta, which this year will honour Nobel Laureate and St Lucia native Derek Walcott.

The festival will “recognize Mr. Walcott’s contribution to Creole culture, and feature local and regional cultural artists,” according to a release.

The festival will include a special reading of Walcott’s play, “Ti Jean and His Brothers,” with readers from both Martinique and St Lucia.

The festival will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Pyramid in St Lucia’s Pointe Seraphine.
