ST THOMAS — The island of St Thomas will soon be home to the first-ever Margaritaville Vacation Club resort.

The $100 million project, which broke ground earlier this year, will be the first Margaritaville-branded timeshare for Wyndham Vacation Ownership.

It is a redevelopment of the former Grand Beach Palace Resort.

Initial occupancy at the project is set to begin in early 2015, according to Wyndham.

The plan is to for the project to eventually include 262 condominium-style timeshare units; the initial phase will debut with 75 rooms.

Jimmy Buffett’s latest Caribbean venture is located on the northeastern side of St Thomas. It will include a beach restaurant, a “5 O’Clock Somewhere” tiki bar, a pool and hot tub, among other features.
