After a reduction in July, American Airlines is seeing a continued decline in traffic to Latin America and the Caribbean in August, the carrier reported this week.

Revenue passenger miles to the Latin America and Caribbean region reduced by 1.9 percent to 2.767 billion in August, down from 2.82 billion revenue passenger miles in August of 2013.

For the year, revenue passengers to the region are still in the black, however, with a 1.7 percent incrase and 22.59 billion total revenue passenger miles.

Overall, the carrier’s international revenue passengers were down 0.1 percent in August, with only the Pacific region seeing a year-over-year increase.

Load factor to Latin America and the Caribbean was 80.2 percent in August, down 1.3 percent from August 2013.
