Caribbean Airlines saw a big increase in demand for its Trinidad-Tobago “airbridge” route during the summer months, the carrier said Wednesday.

The company said the airbridge experienced an “unprecedented increase in demand” this year, with an 8 percent increase in July and August over the same period in 2013.

That included 36 flights using the carrier’s Boeing 737 jet services, and a total of 13,364 available seats.

“Discussions are ongoing with all stakeholders and we will use this integration of market knowledge to align supply and demand,” the company said in a release. “We are focused on streamlining our passenger handling processes toward a seamless experience.”

The Trindiad-Tobago route is crucial for domestic travelers between the two islands; Tobago’s government has recently set up a task force with Caribbean Airlines to deal with issues concerning the route.
