Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Minister Asot MIchael met Monday with the Dominican Republic’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Trullos, to discuss the two countries’ bilateral relations.

The two sides discussed projects in areas including security, agriculture, tourism, sports and education, according to a government statement.

Michael is visiting the Dominican Republic this week to attend an investment forum in Santo Domingo.

Michael also met with Miguel Mejia, the Dominican Republic’s Minister for Regional Integration, discussing different projects in development and the Dominican Republic’s relations with CARICOM.

Mejia invited Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Browne to visit the Dominican Republic.

It’s not clear if the two sides discussed the Dominican Republic’s application for membership in CARICOM, which was suspended last year in the wake of the constitutional court decision impacting Dominicans of Haitian descent.
