Seven “On the Sand” Beach Restaurants in Martinique

Among its many highlights, the island of Martinique has a certain specialty: the beach restaurant. And we don’t simply mean a beach bar, or a bar with view of the sand. In Martinique, a beach restaurant means your table is directly on the sand. You might call them “toes in the sand” restaurants. Here are seven of our favourites.

Le Petibonum

When it comes to beach restaurants, this Le Carbet institution is tops. Chef Guy Ferdinand’s masterwork is a foodie destination right on the sand.

Ti Sable

Another Martinique classic, Ti Sable is located on Plage de Grande Anse in the Anses d’Arlet area. Go for the exquisite magret de canard.

Lili’s Beach Bar

This place is a bit of a secret — you access it through the nearby Hotel La Bateliere in the Schoelcher neighbourhood. When you get there, you’ll find terrific food and even better sunsets.

La Kay

While this Anses d’Arlet eatery serves highlights its seafood, it also has some seriously good food off the grill, from chicken to pork.

Barracuda

This particularly laid-back restaurant in the town of Trois Ilets has great weekend music and great seafood — especially the lambi (conch).

Kaban’ Ylan

This beach shack-restaurant in Anses d’Arlet specializes in creole cuisine and wonderful seafood.

Le Cayali

This tiny sandy spot in Le Marin servers simple, traditional food that goes great with La Mauny rhum.
