The International Monetary Fund’s Executive Board has approved the extension of its agreement with Haiti under an Extended Credit Facility.

The agreement was extended to Dec. 28, and was taken without a board meeting, the IMF said.

Haiti’s government requested the extension to “provide them with additional time to implement actions on the fiscal and structural fronts that are needed for the completion of the eighth and final review under the arrangement and the related disbursement,” the IMF said in a statement.

The IMF first approved a three-year arrangement for Haiti on July 21, 2010. Last year, that arrangement was extended by a year to Aug. 29, 2014.
