Grand Cayman’s Haven For Local Art

Above: Pure Art Gallery and Gifts in Grand Cayman

If you’re looking for local art and craft on Grand Cayman, don’t limit yourself to your hotel gift shop or the stores on the main drag in George Town.

Instead, venture a mile south of the capital to South Sound’s Pure Art Gallery & Gifts.

The family-run boutique, housed in a century-old cottage, has been selling original Caymanian and Caribbean art for more than two decades.

The packed-to-the-rafters inventory includes oil paintings and watercolors; handmade toys; household gifts; and jewelry made from Caymanite, a native semi-precious stone.

Baskets woven with dried leaves of the Silver Thatch palm, the Caymans’ national tree, make great gifts.
