Tourist arrivals to St Lucia rose by 6 percent in the first half of 2014, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The island received 176,017 stopover arrivals in the first half, a 6 percent improvement over the same period in 2013.

The island’s success was buoyed by a strong winter tourist season that saw a 6.7 percent improvement in visitor arrivals over the previous year.

In the summer season, the country has seen a 4.3 percent increase so far.

Last year, St Lucia broke its tourist arrivals record, bringing in over 315,000 visitors, the second consecutive year in which the country broke the record.
