The Baha Mar resort project in the Bahamas has pushed back its opening date, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The resort project, which had been slated to open in December 2014, will now hold its grand opening in the spring of 2015.

In a statement to Caribbean Journal, a Baha Mar spokesperson said the resort would start “preview openings of Baha Mar’s facilities beginning in December 2014.”

“We will release more information about those public dates as we get closer to December,” the spokesperson told CJ.

The property also plans to open its booking engine beginning on Sep. 1, for guest visits in late spring.

When open, the resort will include 2,200 rooms including the Grand Hyatt, SLS and Rosewood brands, along with an eponymous resort and casino.

It will also include a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.

The $3.5 billion resort, the largest of its kind in the Caribbean, broke ground in 2011.
