As Haiti sees growth in stopover visits, the country is also showing strong improvement in the cruise sector.
Haiti tallied 368,942 cruise passenger arrivals in the first half of 2014, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
That represented a 6.3 percent improvement over the same period in 2013, when 347,064 cruised to the island, home to Royal Caribbean’s Labadee port.
In 2013, Haiti welcomed a total of 643,634 cruise passengers to its shores, which was itself a 5.5 percent improvement over 2012, according to CTO data.
Royal Caribbean has been sailing to Labadee since the 1980s.
