Construction at the new Park Hyatt hotel project is now underway.

The project’s designs received final approval at the end of 2013. It will be the first Park Hyatt hotel in the Caribbean region.

Dubai-based Range Developments, which is developing the project, said work is already underway on 11 of 26 buildings on the project, with the structure of the first building to be completed by mid-August.

The resort will have three types of suites, with “rooftop suites” to include individual rooftop pools.

The project is slated for completion by the end of 2015.

It will be located within the Banana Bay area of the Christophe Harbour development on St Kitts’ southeastern peninsula.

The government said around 350 construction jobs were expected to be created during the first phase, which will include 134 rooms.
