The soon-to-open Condado Vanderbilt Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico has named Nicholas Gold its general manager.

The move comes soon after the hotel announced the appointment of Efrain Rosa as its hotel manager.

The 319-room property, which is set to open on Dec. 1, will include a spa, a hammam, two pools and two restaurants. It is located in the Condado neighbourhood of San Juan.

“Nicholas’s knowledge of the tourism industry in Puerto Rico and wealth of experience in the luxury market make him the perfect candidate to manage the Condado Vanderbilt and position it internationally,” said Jose Suarez, president of International Hospitality Enterprises. “Additionally, his spa background at Amangiri Resort and Miiamo Spa [in Utah] will prove invaluable as we prepare to launch Puerto Rico’s first Hammam at our property.”

Gold, a 30-year veteran of the industry, has previous experience in Puerto Rico, having worked for Williams Hospitality at Hotel El Conquistador and Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino, among other stops.

“It fills me with great pleasure to return to Puerto Rico to join the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel team and ensure the property returns to its status as the social epicenter of San Juan,” Gold said in a statement.
