A delegation from the government of New Zealand began a five-day visit to St Kitts and Nevis this weekend.

The delegation was led by Sir Donald Charles “Don” McKinnon, a special envoy of New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.

McKinnon has previously served as the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and as Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations.

On Friday, the trip began with a visit with St Kitts and Nevis Energy Minister Earl Asim Martin, and was slated to include a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas.

The New Zealand delegation also included First Secretary Anthony Simpson, police officer Michael Zhang and Policy Officer Natalie White.

Earlier this year, New Zealand moved to deepen its ties with the Caribbean region by opening a High Commission to the region in Bridgetown.
