Haiti’s hotel boom hasn’t left the existing hotels behind.
Port-au-Prince’s Kinam Hotel has a new look, thanks to an ongoing expansion project that includes the addition of 85 rooms.
The Petion-Ville hotel’s expansion includes the new rooms, two restaurants, a bar, a cafe and shops.
The hotel now has a total of 118 rooms, including the original 33 in the existing property.

The property’s interiors are decorated with works by local artists in Petion-Ville, a hilly suburb of the capital.
According to the office of Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, the first phase of the project includes a total investment of $16 million, with an eventual $30 million investment by the Buteau family that owns the hotel.
Petion-Ville has been home to Haiti’s mini-explosion of hotels, from the new Royal Oasis and Best Western Premier to the redesigned NH El Rancho, among others.
More hotels are on their way, including a planned Marriott and a Hilton Garden Inn.
