St Maarten Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams held talks this week at her Cabinet with Organization of American States Director General Didacus Jules.

Jules was in St Maarten to give a keynote address at the Governor’s Symposium on Education and Democracy.

The two sides discussed St Maarten’s role in the Caribbean region and education cooperation, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

It was the first meeting between the two since Jules took over as the OECS’ top official since earlier this year.

Wescot-Williams has been making a concerted effort to expand St Maarten’s ties with the wider region, from urging regional deeper cooperation on tourism to finding ways to make St Maarten a Caribbean economic hub.
