A new technology park has opened its doors in Trinidad.

The Tamana InTech Park Facility, located in Wallerfield, officially opened on Tuesday, with Trinidad Trade Minister Vasant Bharath on hand for the inauguration.

The opening marked the completion of the first phase of the projet.

The project cost the government about $343.2 million USD, Bharath said, calling the opening “historic.”

Trinidad’s government has already signed a $135 million deal with Columbus Communications to open a data recovery centre at the facility, Bharath said, and the government is in negotiations with an international medical care company to occupy office space at the park.

The “light eco-industrial park” will have an academic and research focus, according to the government.

It will also be 30 percent green energy, the government said.
