Montserrat Premier Reuben Meade signed has signed a pair of memoranda of understanding twinning the island with a pair of places in Europe.

Meade signed MoUs with Montserrat’s namesake, the area of Montserrat in Valencia, Spain, along with the country of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.

Montserrat is the most recent British Overseas Territory to sign an agreement with Hertfordshire.

In 2012, the British Virgin Islands signed a memorandum of understanding with Hertfordshire on education matters, during a visit by Education Minister Myron Walwyn to the United Kingdom.

That followed a 2009 agreement between the BVI and Hertfordshire on sports cooperation.
