Colombia continued its strong start to group play in the World Cup with an exciting 2-1 victory over Cote d’Ivoire.

After 63 scoreless minutes, the game really got going, as James Rodriguez scored in the 64th minute and Juan Quintero put one home six minutes later in the 70th minute.

Cote d’Ivoire came within a goal in the 73rd minute with a score by Gervinho, but it wasn’t enough as Colombia’s strong play kept the Ivorians in check.

Cote d’Ivoire actually outshot Colombia, although the Caribbean nation had six shots on goal to three by the Ivorians.

The Colombians had 20 tackles to 13 by the Cote d’Ivoire, although the latter held onto possession for 55 percent of the match.

The win brought Colombia’s record to 2-0 in Group C, with six points and a likely ticket to the knockout round.
