14 Great Beaches in Martinique

Martinique is known for many things: food, culture, art, and, of course, world-famous rhum distilleries. But few are aware of the extent and number of exceptional beaches in Martinique, from wide white-sand beaches to secluded coves and hideaways. Here is Martinique in 14 beaches.

Grande Anse des Salines

One of the island’s more popular beaches, this beach in Sainte-Anne has food, watersports, lots of parking and is also home to the Club Med.

Anse Turin

This long beach outside of the town of Saint-Pierre, also known as Sea Grape Beach, is a great to watch the ocean and get a view of towering Montagne Pelee volcano.

Anse Dufour

This beach, which is part of the group of Les Anses d’Arlet, is tucked away on a hillside corner. You could miss it if you’re not careful.

Anse Noire

This black-sand beach is accessible by a long staircase, but it’s well worth the trip. It’s nestled in a very protected bay with terrific snorkeling. It’s also home to the eclectic Domaine de Robinson hotel.

Grande Anse

This beautiful stretch of sand is best known for the Ti Sable beach restaurant, among the best on the island.

Plage du Bourg, Anse d’Arlet

It’s an in-town beach with a number of good on-the-sand restaurants like Kaban’ Ylan.

Petite Anse

This small beach on the road toward Le Diamant a quiet, comfortable, inviting beach.

Plage du Diamant

This beach is famous for its view of the Diamant rock, but it’s even better for surfing and watersport.

Cap Chevalier

This far-off, secluded beach has an almost magical, surreal quality to it, as you can tell from the mysterious colours of the sunset above.

Le Coin

This beach in the laid-back town of Carbet is great in its own right, but the real reason to come here is Chef Guy Ferdinand’s world-famous Le Petibonum beach restaurant — a must visit on any trip to Martinique.

Surfer’s Beach (Anse l’Etang)

This is as secret as a beach can get. You have to walk through a shady grove to get there — otherwise you’d never know it was here. It’s become a haven for surfers due to its well-formed waves.

Plage de Tartane

This long beach in the bohemian peninsula of Tartane isn’t just a great beach — it even has its own rum distillery, Hardy, right nearby for refills.

Anse Mitan

This is the go-to beach in the town on Trois-Ilets, home of the Barracuda beach bar and a great place to eat with your toes in the sand.

Plage La Bateliere

This tiny beach is just down the steps from the exceptional Lili’s Beach Bar, located beneath the Hotel Bateliere.
