The Virgin Islands Port Authority has received a $4.4 million grant from the United States Department of Transportation for a series of improvement projects at St Croix’s Henry E Rohlsen Airport.

The grant will fund the second of three construction phases to rehabilitate 8,400 square yards of terminal apron pavement.

It will also support the installation of around 2,300 feet of security fencing.

“I congratulate the Port Authority and its leadership for securing this important grant funding that will improve the infrastructure at the Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix,” said US Virgin Islands Representative Donna Christensen, the territory’s Delegate to the US Congress.

Henry E Rohlsen airport handles almost 400,000 passengers each year in St Croix.
