Haiti-based airline Tortug’Air has officially launched service between Fort Lauderdale and Cap-Haitien.

The Port-au-Prince-based carrier made its inaugural flight from Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.

It had been previously only serving routes locally within Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The company said it was additionally planning to begin service to Nassau in the Bahamas.

Tortug-Air is flying between the two cities daily beginning with the Cap-Haitien-FLL leg at 10 AM, with a flying time of about 1:45.

The company is operating the service on an Embraer ERJ-145 twin-jet plane.
