Air France has signed a codesharing agreement with Caribbean regional carrier Winair.

The codeshare will cover five routes out of St Maarten: Saba, St Barth, St Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis and Tortola.

A codeshare agreement means a passenger can check his or her baggage in their departure city directly to their final destination.

The two carriers first signed an interline agreement in 2003.

“This agreement confirms our commitment to expand our offer of services and strengthen our presence in the region,” said Christian Oberle, vice president, commercial for Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Latin America at Air France KLM.

In a statement, Winair President Michael Cleaver said the agreement “now affords our mutual customers seamless transit and connections via the St Maarten hub of Princess Juliana International Airport.”
