British Virgin Islands Sees Big Jump in Tourist Arrivals

The British Virgin Islands saw a 10.7 percent increase in stayover arrivals in the January and February, the largest increase of any destination in the Caribbean in that period, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The British Overseas Territory welcomed 76,393 total stopover arrivals in January and February.

In 2013, the British Virgin Islands received 355,677 stopover visitors overall, a 1.2 percent increase over the previous year.

So far in 2014, the British Virgin Islands has also seen a significant increase in cruise visitors, with a 21.5 percent jump in 2014 compared to 2013.

In fact, the territory received more visitors in the first two months of the year (169,576) than it did in all of 2013 (139,596) according to CTO data.
