Haiti President Michel Martelly and Cuban President Raul Castro held talks on Tuesday in Havana.

In what the Cuban government described as a “cordial” meeting, the two sides held a dialogue about the “good state of bilateral relations” and “other matters of interest on the international agenda.”

A statement from Haiti’s National Palace said the discussions focused on cooperation between Haiti, Cuba and Brazil, organization of Haiti’s upcoming elections and regional politics.

Martelly was joined in the meeting by Pierre-Richard Casimir presidential advisor for foreign affairs (and the country’s former foreign minister), while Castro was joined by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Martelly was to depart Cuba following the meeting.
