9 Great Beaches in Grenada

GRENADA — Beaches have their own personalities. Some beaches are just plain easy, while others are more complex. Indeed, some of the best beaches are harder to find and more difficult get to. But once you’re there, the rewards are far greater. The beaches in Grenada are like that —-some are easy to find and enjoy and others are a bit more remote — but well worth the effort. Join Caribbean Journal as we take you on a tour of some of the Spice Isle’s best beaches.

Petite Anse Beach — When we said reward, this is what we were talking about. This beach is a hidden beauty, harder to find, but worth the journey.

Magazine Beach — Home to the Maca Bana Resort and the Aquarium Restaurant. The beach is also known as “concrete strip,” named after the narrow access driveway from the road.

Morne Rouge Bay, better known as BBC Beach, is the home of the Kalinago Beach Resort.

Grenada’s most famous beach is Grand Anse Beach, home to a number of hotels, including the Spice Island Beach Resort, the Coyaba Beach Resort, the new Radisson and, perhaps most importantly, Umbrella’s Beach Bar.

La Sagesse Beach is the location of the La Sagesse Nature Center Hotel and a great beach bar/restaurant. Simply put, a spectacular beach.

Levera Beach is popular with a particular kind of traveler — the leatherback turtle (and you can often see such turtles nesting on the beach. It’s one of the most dramatic beach settings anywhere in the region.

Gouyave Bay Beach — the name Gouyave immediately brings to find its famous Fish Fridays, but the beach is worth the trip alone.

Beausejour Bay Beach — this beach is all about pure relaxation (and some fishing, if you’re up for it).

Pink Gin Beach — This beautifully-named beach is around the corner from the Sandals LaSource Grenada resort, but it feel miles away from everything. It’s just you, the Grenadian sand, the sky and the sea.
