Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina has appointed agronomist Angel Estevez as the country’s new Minister of Agriculture, the National Palace announced on Thursday.

Estevez replaces former Agriculture Minister Ramon Rodriguez, who had resigned the position.

Medina also announced the appointment of Carlos Segura Foster as administrator of the Agricultural Bank of the Dominican Republic to fill the void left by the departure of Estevez.

The brief statement issued by the Dominican Republic did not give an official reason for the resignation of Luis Ramon Rodriguez, an engineer by trade.

Medina also announced the appointment of Pelegrin Castillo Seman as the country’s new Minister of Energy and Mining, a recently-created position.
