American Airlines will be launching an additional weekly flight to Martinique for the summer season, the carrier announced.

The new nonstop service, which will launch on June 11 through Aug. 13, will operate on Wednesdays.

In 2012, the company first launched weekly nonstop service to Martinique on Saturdays. That represented the first nonstop service from the United States mainland to Martinique in the modern era.

It will depart Miami each Wednesday at 11:20 AM, arriving at around 2:50 PM local time. The return flight will leave Martinique at 3:30 PM and arrive in Miami at 7:00 PM local time.

It could be a boon for the French Caribbean department, which has been making a major push to court visitors from the United States market.

American operates the service on a Boeing 737 plane.
