A History of Antigua, Through the Lens

A new exhibit takes a look at the history of Antigua through a group of photographs.

The project, which is the brainchild of photographer Timothy Payne, is a partnership between Antigua’s Ministry of Telecommunications, Science and Technology and the Antigua and Barbuda Museum of Photography and Fine Arts.

The photographs show scenes of Antigua beginning in the early 20th century. They are a collection of images from photographers across the island, according to Payne.

Some of the photographers featured include Joseph Seaton, Gerald Price, Lincoln Samuel, along with photographs from Payne’s own collection.

The photographs are printed on canvas with archival ink.

The project will see Antigua’s so-called ICT Cadets, young Antiguans who are undergoing a series of technological training programmes, working on the production of a video documentary about Payne’s effort.
