Rum Journal: A Goombay Smash From the Abaco Beach Resort

IT’S ONE of the Bahamas’ classic cocktails (and a Rum Journal favourite): the Goombay Smash.

This yellow-hued concoction will take you directly to the turquoise seas of the Bahamas, whether you’re on a Bahamian beach or somewhere in cold winter climes.

We’ve been lucky enough to get the recipe for a Goombay Smash from the delightful Abaco Beach Resort, which is located on the island of Great Abaco in the Bahamas.

Here’s their recipe:

Goombay Smash

Ingredients:

1 oz. spiced rum
1 oz. Malibu coconut rum
¼ oz. apricot brandy
2 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. orange juice

Directions:

Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker or highball glass with ice and shake.  Garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Sip.
