The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has officially assumed the rotating chairmanship of the Organization of American States’ Permanent Council.

Jacinth Henry-Martin, St Kitts and Nevis’ Permanent Representative to the OAS, assumed the chair this week, succeeding the Dominican Republic in the post.

“I can guarantee my availability and my commitment to working with you to ensure that the work of this Organization is executed with efficiency,” she told the OAS.

Outgoing Dominican Ambassador Pedro Verges said he was confident that Henry-Martin would do “an outstanding job” representing St Kitts and Nevis and the organization.

The handover ceremony in Wahsington, DC was attended by OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza and Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin, among others.
