A little over a month after it first officially launched, Health City Cayman Islands has admitted its first patient, the project announced.

The local patient underwent a cardiac procedure performed by Dr Ravi Kishore on Tuesday, according to Health City.

“We are pleased to announce this day has finally arrived and we are now officially delivering the highest level of tertiary-care services and patient care in our new, state-of-the-art facility,” said Dr Chandy Abraham, medical and facility director at the high-profile project. “We are grateful for the hard work of our dedicated doctors and staff who have made it possible for us to reach this historical day.”

The project, which has plans to ultimately expand to a 2,000-bed facility, is the brainchild of Indian doctor Devi Shetty, who is the chairman of the Nayarana Health network, which operates 23 hospitals across India.

Health City Cayman Islands officially opened its doors on Feb. 25.

It currently occupies 107,000 square feet on the East End of Grand Cayman.
